AVIATION: MY OTHER LOVE

This blog is called Fashion in Flight for a reason. As much as I love fashion, I love flying, too. I grew up around aviation and airplanes. Last summer I got my pilot’s license, training in a Cirrus SR20. As much as I love those techy planes for watching the world from above, there’s nothing like a vintage flyer. My favorite airplane is a Piper J3 Cub. It’s the plane that really solidified my love for flying when I was just a little kid. This weekend my dad and I flew the Cub up to Columbia to grab some breakfast and just enjoy a little time in the sky together.

There’s nothing quite like flying a Cub. The preflight inspection is a breeze, the gas gauge is a buoy, and the door stays open in flight. There really is no place in the world I’d rather be. Photos really can’t quite express it, but I can try. The last two are some old photos from previous flights I thought y’all would like to see, we didn’t take too many – we were too busy taking in the flight. It was such an amazing time.

Flying some approaches for practice and practice emergencies, fly safe y’all. Dad calls this the Star Wars tunnel.

The PIC (Pilot in Command), AKA my Daddy. 🙂

Not a whole lot of tech, huh? That’s how you know you’re really flying.

Practice approaches over the lake. We like to land the sea plane out here when the water level isn’t so low.
Look at that beautiful piece of human engineering! Over 50 years old and still magical.

One of my first time’s flying this baby!
