SUMMER 2019 READING LIST + PODCASTS I’M LISTENING TO

Happy Wednesday, ladies! How’s your week going? I’ve spent the past several hours working on this post, which is a long time for a post like this. I just keep getting distracted and now that I’m on to the intro my brain simply cannot abide the screen any longer. So we’ll keep this short – I’m sharing all the books and podcasts I’m currently reading and listening to and intending to read and listen to this summer. BOOKS

SHOOT LIKE A GIRL

I started this book a couple months ago and I’m still working my way through it. I just haven’t been reading – which is the point of this post. You guys need to hold me to it! But I’ve always enjoyed a good aviation book – so a lady helo pilot didn’t take much convincing for me. I saw this book sitting on the shelf while Chris was picking up new uniform boots. I didn’t have time to read into it at all, but I’m enjoying it so far.

ASTROPHYSICS FOR PEOPLE IN A HURRY

I’ve actually started this audiobook twice, but haven’t committed to listening through. I wanted to listen while driving, but I  wanted to focus harder on the science being discussed, which, obviously, is not safe. SO I’ve been wanting to listen to it at night before bed and that does work well. But I’ve gotten out of my nighttime routine so hopefully with a little effort on my part I’ll be able to listen, then. Or I’ll read it on our trip.

GIRL, WASH YOUR FACE

I’m not sure if this book has previously been on my list, but I haven’t read it yet. That’s so like me, right? Anywhay, I have heard nothing but good things about it and I’m thinking of bringing it on an upcoming trip. Although I’m trying to keep my luggage light, so I’m still debating bringing a proper book at all.

COCO CHANEL

This Coco Chanel biography has lived on my bookshelf for years. I can’t remember exactly when or how I got it, but the cover was so gorgeous I decided to use it on an invisible bookshelf I DIY’d in my high school bedroom. And because it became a part of my decoration, it never got picked up. I intend to change that this summer. And then it will resume a decorative spot because how pretty is it!

PODCASTS

So as I’m writing this post I just ordered two podcast mics for Chris and I.  He is always going off and has so much to say and says it so eloquently. I’ve been trying to get him on board with developing his own platform and I think the whole podcast thing might be where it’s at. I’ll update you guys when we get it figured out! APPROACHABLE. Okay, guys, this podcast. Muah. Samantha Ravndahl has been kicking ass for years and I only recently discovered her YouTube channel. Then she launched approachable. with her friend Alyssa and I immediately got back on board the podcasts bus. The girls talk about all sorts of life matters with the goal of making tough topics approachable.

BAYTS. Keren and Khoa recently started a podcast – if you don’t know who they are, they’re the masterminds behind the YouTube channel, KKandBabyJ. It’s a family vlog, but both Keren and Khoa are masters at navigating the digital world. Seriously, I don’t know how they do it. Their podcast is still getting up and running, the audio isn’t perfect, and ads a little abrupt… BUT it is so authentic and I love that they just went for ti.

GIRLBOSS RADIO. I’ve been listening to Girlboss Radio for years. I love the interviews, the topics (women killing business), and the Girlboss-ness. Simple as that.

INFLUENCER BUSINESS. Okay, so this is not a podcast I’ve listened to yet. But it’s next on my list. Chris and I are big fans of Mary Orton and her husband, Rich. I remember following Mary’s blog years and years ago, and it’s been so cool watching her platforms grow. So clearly I’m excited to support any way I can.
