DECEMBER BEAUTY FAVORITES by Fashion in Flight

In the last month, I’ve really felt the season change. Suddenly it got colder and, somehow, simultaneously drier and wetter. Any time there’s a big change in weather, there’s a huge change in my beauty routine to cope. Follow the jump to read about my favorite products for December and how they help!

100% PURE ORGANIC COFFEE BEAN CAFFEINE EYE CREAM. I got this in my Birchbox and the timing was perfect because I had just run out of my Clinique All About Eyes cream. I loved that stuff, but I love trying new things so I was happy to give 100% Pure a shot. It’s a lot thicker than I was used to, but I don’t mind because the skin around my eyes always seems a little dry. The fragrance took a little getting used to, but I’ve decided that I love it. I hate anything overpowering in the morning, but the subtle coffee/chocolate smell is actually really nice.

MARIO BADESCU DRYING LOTION. I picked this up in the plastic bottle before I went to Peru, though now I’ll choose the glass, because I wanted something to help manage my breakouts as they started, instead of trying to do damage control when I got back. I’ve kept using it in the evening since returning because it is so good. It knocks out pimples within one or two uses and shaves off healing time like crazy. You never quite get used to the burn and it’s very drying, so apply carefully, but if you’re an adult acne sufferer like me, this is definitely something to keep stashed in your medicine cabinet.

CARMEX LIP BALM. So, that links to a 12 pack, because that’s how much I love this stuff. Here’s a normal sized pack. For as oily as my hair and skin get, they also get so unbelievably dry in certain spots. In the winter time, my lips get dry and cracked – every year, without fail. Also when I snowboard I tend to dry out around my eyes and nail beds, I’ve found that a little Carmex helps with both so I’m not carrying around a million products on the slopes.

KENRA PROFESSIONAL PLATINUM DRY TEXTURE SPRAY 6. This might be my favorite hair product ever. Like the Pureology Dry Conditioner, I wish it came in perfume version because it smells amazing. Like, hold the presses amazing. Anyone who walks into my bathroom after I’ve used it comments on the smell. But not only does it smell great and make my hair smell great, it also provides a great amount of texture. I love trying new products, and texture sprays especially, but I think this one will stay on my shelf for the foreseeable future, only occasionally being replaced when I’m feeling adventurous.

NOURISHINE PLUS® LIP GLOSS IN CAFÉ AU LAIT. So my favorite Mary Kay lipgloss was discontinued and I was traumatized because it was the perfect “my lips, but better” shade. I’ve been on the hunt for a dupe for about a year, and tried a lot of different products outside of the Mary Kay brand looking for something close, but never quite found it. To date, this is the best I’ve found. The formula is really nice and the color is beautiful. I also like Fancy Nancy, which is almost exactly the same, but with a little sparkle. I don’t think it’s quite the perfect dupe, but when paired together, Café Au Lait and Fancy Nancy come damn close.
