WEDDING WEDNESDAY: PLANNING GOALS

March 10, 2021

HELLO! How’s Wedding Wednesday for a new monthly series? Truth be told, it was meant to start last January, #butCOVID. Actually, first I was just unsure how to start it and wanted to wait until few more things were settled. We had a trip planned to try on dresses and I was going to post after that, and THAT’S when COVID hit. Our trip was canceled and we postponed the wedding later in the year. Anyway, the countdown has re-begun and I thought I’d share our goals and some thoughts about the process.

THE PROCESS SO FAR

We’ve been planning this wedding since our elopement in 2018. Surprise. If you haven’t figured it out – also that’s where the featured image came from! I made that dress and it’s still a favorite! That part was meant to be super secret, but my family can’t keep a secret so the world generally knows, but we still wanted to celebrate with our family and I want a proper wedding. Our birthdays are palindromes and our anniversary is a very interesting series of numbers (1-23), so we thought it would be fun to have the wedding be 1-23-21. But COVID. So it’s rescheduled for later this year, and we’ll just have two anniversaries.

Despite COVID, I did manage to do some dress shopping just as things were shutting down. A few stores were still opened and everyone still thought this wouldn’t last. I ended up finding two dresses I adore so that part of the checklist is done. We’ve also picked out bridal party dresses, the venue, and the wedding party. We have the theme settled and I have a Pinterest board and Amazon cart of ideas for decor. AND we picked out our honeymoon destination and the tentative dates so we’ll book that fairly soon as well.

OUR GOALS FOR MARCH

First things first, our save the dates need to get out. We needed to reprint them and took care of that this past weekend. I had custom stamps made, so we just need to be sure they’re the right value for the weight. Then we can drop them off. I also picked out the invitations (and thankfully hadn’t ordered them), so those will be ordered soon.

For the rest of the month, we need to:

  • Send those save the dates
  • Update the wedding website
  • Order wedding party gifts and send the details for the dresses (we’ll worry about suiting in a month or two)
  • Research a few more venders

Given that the month is now almost half over, it’s a relatively short list, but it’s still a good chunk to get done. Fortunately we did a lot last year despite knowing we’d probably need to postpone, so everything should come together well, but we’ll see!

For future editions, I think I’ll share this post on the last Wednesday of the month to provide an update and share the next month’s goals!
