CUBICLE TO COCKTAIL: DRESS IT UP

Happy Fri-YAY, ladies! I hope your week has been fabulous! Today we’re celebrating Friday with a Cubicle to Cocktail look. Last month, I talked about how you can take a conservative work outfit and dress it down for an easy cocktail outfit. So this month I want to share a few tricks to take your work look and dress it up into a much more formal cocktail look. Every now and then we do have fancy events that our work schedules just won’t accommodate, but that doesn’t mean you have to show up late or under dressed. A few thoughtful decisions in the morning make it easy to transition from low to high with only one or two small changes.

OPT FOR BLACK PANTS OR A BLACK SKIRT

Black is both conservative work and infinitely classy. So black is a great color to make work for both occasions. I also love the look of pants for a fancy affair because they’re a little unexpected a totally chic. A cropped trouser is the easiest to take from day tonight because it lacks the explicit work conservative-ness of a full length slack. You could also opt for a black pencil skirt which is always slimming and creates a dress like look with a black top.

SWITCH TO SEQUINS OR GLITTER

Top your classic black bottoms with sequins or glitter. They always look a little extra fancy, especially in black. And with a neatly printed or sparkly clutch, they look even fancier. Plus that clutch will feat neatly inside your work bag. I love a backless sequin top like the one I’m wearing in this post because it gives off an extra dressy, extra sexy vibe that really amps up a plain work pant.

VAMP UP THE LIMP

To give your look an even more more killer feel, vamp up your lip with a bold red or deep lip color. Especially if your work makeup is something more simple like in this post, a bold lip will give you more of that va-va-voom.  I chose a red liquid lip to dress it up because I love the staying power, but a pretty glossy look would be fabulous as well!

How could you dress up your work look?
