3 COZY & WARM CABIN COCKTAILS

Happy Wednesday, ladies! I hope you all are having a wonderful Holiday week. Mine is going rather slow since all my gifts and wrapping are at my home up north and not down south with me, sooo we have lots of work to do tomorrow and Friday when we get to town! Thankfully Amazon has same day delivery because I’ve had to order extra gifts after running out of time to make them before Cancun!

ANYWAY, today’s post is all about yummy, warm cabin cocktails! I did a post on holiday cocktails recently, and this one kind of builds on that. But the difference is these drinks really make me feel more cozy than celebratory. Two of them even have coffee in them, so they’re not really drinks you would serve a bunch of at a cocktail party. Instead, these are cocktails that are super easy to whip up yourself on Christmas morning or on a Holiday break when you’re going to spend the whole day lounging around at home.

So, without further ado, let’s just get into it:

CABIN COCKTAILS

DRUNK PEPPERMINT MOCHA w/ FRENCH PRESS COFFEE

– Coffee (french press is best!)
– Half & Half
– Hot chocolate mix
– Peppermint Schnapps or a peppermint liqueur

STEP ONE.

Start with making your coffee by measuring out your grounds and just dropping them into your french press. The amount of water and coffee to add really depends on your tastes and the size of your press, but most people recommend 1 heaping tablespoon per cup. But again, you’re drinking this so make it as strong or weak as you like!

STEP TWO.

Next, bring your water to a boil, then turn it off and let it cool for no more than a minute or two. Just let the bubbles fade. Then pour your water into the french press on top of your coffee.

STEP THREE.

Allow the coffee and water mixture to sit for about five minutes, then give it a good stir, and let it sit for a minute or two more. The longer the coffee steeps, the stronger it gets, but the water also starts to cool. So try it with the five then one minute set up, and add or subtract time on the one minute end until you make your perfect cup.

STEP FOUR.

When the coffee is ready, place the top on the press and slowly press the plunger down. Keep it steady and level as you press so you don’t end up with grounds in your cocktail. Once you get to the bottom, pour your cup leaving room for cream and a shot of peppermint liqueur.

STEP FIVE.

Add a big, heaping tablespoon of hot chocolate mix and stir it well.

STEP SIX.

Top it with cream to taste. I recommend adding cream, even if you usually drink your coffee black because it’s really what makes the chocolate flavor come through smoothly. Even with regular hot cocoa, adding milk or some kind of creamy liquid is what separates crappy hot cocoa from delicious hot cocoa.

STEP SEVEN.

Add a shot of peppermint liqueur, stir, and enjoy!

DRUNK PUMPKIN PIE COFFEE

– Coffee (french press is best!)
– Grand Marnier
– Half & Half
– All Spice
– Pumpkin Pie Spice

STEP ONE.

Make your coffee following the steps above and pour about 2/3 of a cup.

STEP TWO.

Add a healthy shot of Grand Marnier. It’s pretty sweet so use a standard shot or less if you’re not a big sweets person. I’m usually not, but I love the sweetness with the pumpkin pie spice so I used a little more.

STEP THREE.

Add your cream or half & half of choice. Again, for these cocktails, the cream really does something for them. Without it, the flavor just isn’t quite accomplished.

STEP FOUR.

Add a little bit of ground allspice. A teaspoon should be plenty, but add more if you like the spicy flavor.

STEP FIVE.

Add another teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice, taste it, then add more if you want the flavor a little stronger. Because it’s just the spice, it doesn’t actually have a strong pumpkin flavor if your not a PSL fan, but it is reminiscent of pumpkin pie, so this last step is really about how much spice you like in your pie!

STEP ONE.

Boil water and add it to your glass. No special water temps needed for this one, just go as hot as you like your tea to be.

STEP TWO.

Add about a shot and a half of your favorite whiskey.

STEP THREE.

Add a heaping tablespoon of honey, and more if you want it sweeter.

Sprinkle a little all spice on top with ground cloves and nutmeg if you have them (I didn’t).
