HOW TO STAY WARM & LOOK CHIC

Happy Tuesday! After two days of relaxing by the pool, today was the first day we went out and had a few adventures. I only mention because it was SO hot I couldn’t imagine that this post would ever be necessary. But I know that for the majority of you ladies, it’s cold! So today I’m sharing my favorite tips for staying warm and looking chic.

START WITH THIN BASELAYERS

The first thing you want to do is pick your baselayers. If you think it’s a layer that you may pull off to show later, make sure it flows with the rest of your outfit. Essentially, you style the look several times with each layer decision. I like opting for a silk camisole as my base top layer because it looks ultra chic, and if I get to warm, will allow me to cool down on its own.

Layers you can’t see should include (if necessary), leggings under flared denim. Shop sales for jeans one size larger if you have to do this often so you don’t feel as squeezed in. Then grab your favorite knee high boots. You could wear them over skinny jeans and leggings, but since flares are in, go ahead and hide them under your denim and enjoy the warmth while embracing a winter style not everyone gets to appreciate.

ADD COZY MIDDLE LAYERS

The middle layer is probably the one you’ll wear the most unless you walk around in your jacket. I love opting for a chunky knit sweater that is not too dense. It will definitely be warm, but will also allow a little air flow into the fabric that will keep you from being TOO warm.

TOP THE LOOK WITH A TRENDY, LIGHT JACKET

To stop the airiness of the chunky sweater when needed, top your look with a chic jacket. I love the look of leather sleeves or mix-matched fabrics, but any jacket would work. Unless you’re somewhere REAL cold, you’ll probably be just fine with a lighter jacket like this thin Cotton On choice.
