Have I told you how happy I am that it’s finally May? It’s my favorite month! Maybe because it’s my birthday month. I love how it’s still spring, but right on the edge of summer. The weather is usually amazing and warm, without being too hot. It’s an entire world of open possibilities for fashion. Sweaters and mini skirts are totally acceptable. And a sundress is just as comfortable with a pair of sheer tights as it is without. Black tights in spring are so unexpected and chic. In the winter, wear them because it’s cold; but, in the spring, wear them because damn.
Tia Tights is a pretty cool company. The husband and wife team started out as ebay sellers with great feedback, then decided to branch out into their own little company. (Hello, Sophie Amoruso, anyone?) Anyway, tights are their thing. And tights are tough. I’m so active so it’s impossible to find a sheer pair that won’t run on the first wear with all the running around I do. So when Tia Tights approached me asking to try a couple pairs, I jumped on the opportunity. I must say, I am impressed. They’re still sheer and thin and I’m still all over the place, so I’ll probably put a hole in the thinnest pair after about five wears but that’s still minimum FOUR MORE wears than I ever get.
The pair I’m wearing in this outfit is called Penelope. I love the take on the classic black stripe and there’s a little garter detailing at the top. While I can imagine some great looks flaunting that, I’m a little more modest(?) about those details. I decided to pick this dress because it covered the garters most of the time, but every now and then, when I moved just right, it peaked out. Ultra sexy. And without showing off a ton of skin! Add a big floppy hat, bright red lips and voluminous curls and no one will be watching the horses.
